Wood ShavingsMull WoodlandLogs

My preference is to work with locally grown hardwoods and the majority of the wood I use comes from around the island and on the mainland peninsulas near Mull. In fact, I can trace some of the wood I use, from the final piece, back to the woodland the tree grew in.

Using the fantastic woods that grow around the islands rather than importing species from the tropics also has its environmental advantages.

Most of the timber conversion process (tree to lumber) is done by small scale sawmills, the owners of which will often work within, and have a good understanding of woodland management.
