Reuben O'Connell grew up in the Lake District, Cumbria. A lifelong love the outdoors and adventure led to a spell of working and travelling overseas developing practical skills, studying and working in remote areas. A love of trees and a desire to develop a skill which combined practical and artistic elements, led to a pursuit of woodworking and furniture making.
Reuben initially trained at the Lyme Regis Boat Building Academy before setting up his workshop on Mull, and further developing his skills.
He also took the opportunity to attend a short course at the renowned David Savage workshops and a further couple of weeks training at the Edward Barnsley workshops.
Reuben is a member of the Scottish Furniture Makers Association.
